Chocolate Nut Bar
Do you want a delicious and decadent treat that is heart healthy and delicious?
I love chocolate, but I stopped eating it some years ago because of all the contaminants found in it.
Lately I have been experimenting with a rich French cacoa powder and using EVOO. My family and friends are amazed at this delicious treat that is high protein, no saturated fats and very little sugar.
Ingredients
INGREDIENTS 3/4 Cup EVOO
3/4 Cup Maple Syrup
1 Cup Cocoa Powder Organic
1/3 Cup Almond or nut butter
1 Cup Walnuts
1 Cup Pecans
1 Cup Coconut unsweetened
optional:
1/2 Cup Pumpkin Seeds
1/2 Cup Slivered Almonds
1/2-3/4 Cup chopped cranberries or cherries.
1 Cup chopped Pistachios
Optional Flavors 2 Tbsp Grand Marnier 1 Tbsp Espresso powder
2 tsp Vanilla
In a large saucepan mix EVOO, maple syrup, and cocoa powder; bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
Remove immediately, stir in nut butter and any flavor you like.
Add chopped nuts to the saucepan and stir until all nuts are covered.
Immediately pour out on a full cookie sheet line with parchment paper. Press down with a spatula until chocolate nut butter covers the baking sheet. Sprinkle chopped pistachios, or other nuts on top and press down firmly into the chocolate. Chop cherries or cranberries and add to the nut mixture, or cut the cherries and spread them on the top.
Place in freezer, then cut into squares. Store in the freezer this incredibly tasty and healthy treat for your family and friends.
